You’ll experience the broad tunnels and cavernous chambers of one of the best preserved slate mines in North Wales where the world’s finest slate was excavated by both hand and explosive, before being shipped around the world. Look out for the grooves in the slate walls made by their primitive hand tools. You will be venturing deep within the mountains of Southern Snowdonia, an area famed for its high quality slate and recently recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

On your cave tour and as you walk through the broad tunnels and cavernous chambers, you will discover some items discarded by the miners when they left in the early 1970s, the old Braich Goch mine is a virtual time capsule filled with history and artifacts from a time in the mine’s history that was busy and buoyant.
